Technical Tips

If your HVAC equipment does not appear to be working, review the
following check list.  It could save you money or a needless service call.

·         Make sure your thermostat is set above the room temperature in the winter, or below the room temperature in the summer.

·         Verify that the Heating/Cooling switch is in the proper position.

·         Check the circuit breaker, it may need to be reset particularly after an electrical storm.

·         If your equipment is run by a time clock, verify that the clock is set correctly and operating properly.

·         If you change your own filters, make sure they are clean and properly installed.

·         After changing your furnace filter, but sure the door is properly replaced, otherwise your furnace will not operate.

·         Change the filters in your equipment on at least a quarterly basis.  This not only keeps the air cleaner, but also helps your equipment to operate at peak efficiency.

·         Consider a programmable thermostat.  For a small investment, you can gain some real savings by having your HVAC equipment automatically "set back" the temperature at night and on weekends.

·         Check out rebate programs on new heating and cooling equipment.  Often you will find rebate programs available to install more efficient equipment.  You may be pleasantly surprised by the payback period these programs offer to replace your old, inefficient unit.
